Panathinaikos coach Munoz sacked - reports

May 16, 2007

ATHENS, May 16 (Reuters) - Former Spanish international Victor Munoz has been sacked as coach of Panathinaikos, according to sources within the club.

An official announcement is expected in the next two weeks although the news was widely reported by Greek media on Wednesday.

Munoz only took over at the club in October 2006 but an indifferent season that Panathinaikos finished a distant third in the Super League and were defeated in the Greek Cup final by unfancied Larissa has cost him his job.

According to club sources the former Sporting Lisbon boss Jose Peseira will be named as coach, the sixth at Panathinaikos since they won the domestic league and cup double three years ago.
