ROME, March 12 (Reuters) - Messina goalkeeper Nicholas Caglioni has tested positive for cocaine, the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) said on Monday.

A statement on CONI's website said a Swiss laboratory had identified cocaine metabolites in the first specimen submitted for analysis after Messina's Serie A match against Sicilian rivals Catania on Feb. 11.

Caglioni's positive test comes less than a month after another Serie A player, Sampdoria's striker Francesco Flachi, also tested positive for cocaine after a match with Inter Milan.

Earlier this season AC Milan striker Marco Borriello was banned for three months after testing positive for corticosteroids after playing AS Roma in November..
