ROME -- Francesco Flachi was suspended by the Italian soccer league Thursday, a day after the Italian Olympic Committee said the Sampdoria captain tested positive for cocaine. Flachi was banned for two months by the league in September for illegal betting. Cocaine traces were found in his system in a random test after a 2-0 loss to league leader Inter Milan on Jan. 28. Flachi can ask for his backup sample to be tested. If he fails that, he could face a long ban.
