PARIS, Jan 28 (Reuters) - First half goals by Kanga Akale and Thomas Kahlenberg gave AJ Auxerre a 2-0 home win over Nancy in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Nancy, whose form has nosedived in the last two months, have earned only five points from their last eight league matches and have dropped to 12th with 30 points from 22 games.

Auxerre, who struck twice within four minutes to wrap up the win, remain in 13th just one point behind.

Striker Akale put the Burgundy side ahead after 34 minutes when he headed home a Benoit Cheyrou free kick.

Eight minutes from the break Denmark midfielder Kahlenberg doubled the tally with a low shot after being set up by Cheyrou.
