Horsfield won't be sold on the cheap, insist Blades

January 17, 2007

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has warned prospective buyers they will not be allowed to sign striker Geoff Horsfield on the cheap.

Horsfield's hopes of a surprise move to Celtic now appear to have fallen through with manager Gordon Strachan turning his attentions to Burnley's Kyle Lafferty.

Although the transfer-listed Horsfield has no future at Bramall Lane, Warnock is adamant any interested club will have to pay the going rate for a player who cost £1.2million in last May.

'We will not be giving Geoff away for nothing, definitely not,' Warnock told the Sheffield Star.

'I'm sure he won't have a problem finding somewhere, but it seems Celtic no longer want him.

'I don't know what has changed their mind, but if they've gone for the lad from Burnley, I can't see them going for Geoff as well.'
