ROME, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Juventus drew level with Napoli at the top of Serie B with a 2-1 win over Cesena on Tuesday.
The Turin giants seemed well in control of the contest after first-half goals by Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet, but Cesena's Senegalese striker Papa Waigo pulled one back in the 62nd minute to ensure a nervy final half-hour for the hosts.
Juventus were reduced to 10 men four minutes later when defender Jonathan Zebina picked up a straight red card for a mis-timed challenge on Emiliano Salvetti.
They were given another scare in stoppage time when Cesena's Graziano Pelle put the ball in the net only for the referee to overrule his effort for a foul.
The win gave Juventus 35 points from 19 matches. Piacenza lie third on 34 points.
Juventus were relegated to Serie B and had a nine-point penalty imposed for their part in a match-fixing scandal.
