`Rocky` reckons former England captain David Beckham will be a huge hit in America when he joins LA Galaxy.

Actor Sylvester Stallone, who played Rocky Balboa in the film series about the underdog boxer who became world champion, was guest of honour at Everton's home Premiership clash with Reading at Goodison Park today.

He received a hero's reception as he entered the stadium - his appearance was as a favour to his friend, Robert Earl, the Merseyside club`s new backer.

Stallone is also in the UK to promote his latest `Rocky` movie, which will be premiered on Tuesday.

But Stallone could not escape the Beckham issue when asked how he thought the Real Madrid and former Manchester United midfielder would cope in the States.

He said: 'I think it will be fantastic when David Beckham goes to the States.

'History may not repeat itself. Maybe in the 70s with Pele and Franz Beckenbauer it was too soon for the sport to take off.

'This could be great for everybody. Beckham could be a big hit in the States.'
