Wigan defender David Wright has joined Championship club Ipswich for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old, who had a spell on loan at Norwich last season, was out of contract at the end of the season.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell told the club's official website: 'Wrighty is a terrific pro who has worked really hard to get his chance with us after a long period on the sidelines.
'He's never moaned and has always tried his best for me, which as a manager is all you can ask for. Ironically, he's had his longest spell in the team for a while in recent weeks and had done well, proving to himself that he can perform at the highest level.
'However, I owe it to him to give him the chance of permanent first-team football, which hopefully he will get at Ipswich.'
