Baros turned down Spanish move - Agent

January 7, 2007

Aston Villa striker Milan Baros has rejected the chance to join Real Sociedad, according to his agent Pavel Paska.

The Czech star, a target for SV Hamburg last summer, has struggled to hold down a regular place at Villa Park under Martin O'Neill.

O'Neill is understood to be ready to allow Baros, who cost Villa £7million when he moved from Liverpool 18 months ago, to leave if the price is right.

That would help him fund a possible bid for one of his potential targets Watford striker Ashley Young, although Everton and Tottenham are also monitoring the player.

Paska confirmed: 'Milan has not accepted the offer from this club (Real Sociedad). There will be no more talks. If there is an appropriate offer from a club, we will consider it.'

Villa are also being linked with Steaua Bucharest striker Nicolae Dica, while O'Neill was at the Hawthorns to watch West Brom's 3-1 FA Cup victory over Leeds yesterday with his admiration of Albion captain and central defender Curtis Davies well known.

Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley is expected to complete a loan move to Villa Park next week.
