Manchester City striker Bernardo Corradi has been putting himself through punishing solo training sessions in a bid to adapt to life in the Premiership.

The former Italy international has taken time to adjust to the English game following his £1million arrival from Valencia in the summer.

But, after 12 games without a goal, the 30-year-old finally came good against Fulham on Saturday, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes as City romped to a win that pushed them up to the safety of mid-table.

Manager Stuart Pearce has been unstinting in his praise for Corradi but the forward admits his transitional period at City has been a long one.

'It is not easy coming here when you have played in Italy for 12 years,' he told the Manchester Evening News.

'There were a lot of changes to adjust to, such as different food, a different lifestyle.

'Also, the way we train in England is different. I am not used to having a day off during the week, so sometimes I have to train for myself.'
