Germans lodge appeal over Hunt ban

The German football association have lodged an appeal with UEFA against the two-match ban handed to Aaron Hunt, who was found guilty of making racist comments towards England players during the European Under-21 Championship play-off last month.

England duo Anton Ferdinand and Micah Richards both alleged they were called 'monkeys' during the second leg at the BayArena, which England won 2-0 through late goals from substitute Theo Walcott.

The Werder Bremen striker denied the accusations but was found guilty of gross unsporting conduct.
