LISBON, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Brazil defender Luisao scored the only goal to give Benfica a 1-0 home win over Nacional Madeira in the Portuguese Premier League on Sunday.

The Lisbon team, despite missing several players including playmaker Rui Costa through suspension and injury, earned their first league win of the season with Luisao's cool finish at the far post from Simao Sabrosa's 29th-minute corner.

Benfica are in mid-table with three points from two matches.

Champions Porto maintained their 100 percent start with an easy 2-0 win at Naval on Sunday.

Porto have nine points from the first three matches, ahead of Braga who host Uniao Leiria on Monday, Pacos Ferreira, and Naval who are all three points adrift.

The northern team secured the three points before the break with the first goal after 16 minutes by Slovakian defender Marek Cech from a long cross from the right by winger Ricardo Quaresma. They doubled the advantage after 26 minutes with an own goal by Naval defender Mario Sergio.

Sporting are on six points from three games after going down to a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Pacos Ferreira on Saturday following a controversial goal by Brazilian striker Ronny.

The Sporting players protested to no avail that Ronny had touched the ball into the net with his left hand.
