LONDON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Israel captain Yossi Benayoun will sign a five-year contract this week to remain at West Ham United, he was quoted as saying by British media on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old midfielder was linked with a move to United's Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the close season but has no intention of leaving Upton Park.
'I never said I wanted to leave the club. It's normal to have speculation and Liverpool and Arsenal are two big names, but I am happy at West Ham and I will sign a new contract in the next few days,' he said in Wednesday's edition of The Guardian.
'Everything has been agreed and I will sign for five years. It shows I am very happy at the club and that the club are very happy with me,' he added.
Playmaker Benayoun joined West Ham from Spanish club Racing Santander for £2.5 million ($4.68 million) before the start of last season having also played for Maccabi Haifa.
