The University of Georgia soccer team (2-2) fell to the University of Virginia (4-1) by a score of 2-0 Friday night in Charlottesville, Va.
Jess Rostedt, fresh off of her trip to Russia with the U.S. national team, netted a goal to open the scoring for Virginia.
The second goal came just before halftime. Caitlin Miskel found wide open Kelly Quinn, who blasted it home from less than 10 yards away.
Georgia was outshot by Virginia 25-3 on the game.
"We played one of best teams in the country tonight," said Georgia head coach Patrick Baker. "They were already a good team to start the season but with the additions of Nikki Krzysik and Jess Rostedt, they introduced us to ACC soccer and to a very high level of play that we need to try to emulate. I think after their loss to Tennessee, they came out tonight with a lot of spirit on their home field. From the opening whistle until the end of game we were chasing them and chasing the game. We played more heart and spirit in the second half but we were already down two goals and it was a little too late."
