Trabzonspor to play UEFA game behind closed doors

MADRID, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Turkish side Trabzonspor have been ordered to play their UEFA Cup first round, first leg match at home to Osasuna on Sept. 14 behind closed doors.

Primera Liga side Osasuna said on Wednesday that UEFA had informed them their opponents had been handed the stadium ban following incidents during their 1-0 win over Cypriot side APOEL FC in the return leg of their second qualifying round match on Aug. 24.

UEFA said that a rocket had caused panic amongst spectators after it had been thrown by local supporters from one stand into another.

Bottles and another rocket were thrown towards visiting fans during the halftime break and after the match. Four away fans were injured as a result of stones and objects thrown by Trabzonspor supporters.

UEFA said it had taken into account previous penalties given to the Turkish team for lack of order in the stadium. Trabzonspor have until 2200 GMT on Friday to appeal against the decision.
