Blackburn have signed long-term target Andre Ooijer on a two-year contract after having an offer accepted for the PSV Eindhoven defender.
It is understood the fee for the 32-year-old is in the region of £2.1million.
Ooijer completed a medical and signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park this afternoon with the option of adding a third year.
Blackburn boss Mark Hughes said: 'We have been looking to add to our central defensive options all this summer.
'Ooijer has great experience. He has played at the highest level and would be a real asset for us.'
Ooijer has been a long-term target for Hughes and his departure from PSV was virtually guaranteed when he made himself unavailable for last weekend's match against NEC Nijmegen.
Coach Ronald Koeman explained the player's absence from that match by saying of Ooijer: 'He indicated he was not mentally fit and felt incapable of playing.'
The Dutchman can play at right-back or centre-half and was one of Rovers manager Mark Hughes' main targets.
Ooijer becomes Blackburn's fifth summer signing, joining Jason Brown, Francis Jeffers, Jason Roberts and Benni McCarthy at the club.
