U.S. women to play Taiwan in exhibition

CHICAGO -- The U.S. women's soccer team will play Taiwan in an exhibition game on Oct. 1 at Carson, Calif., as it prepares for qualifying for next year's World Cup.

The game was announced Thursday by the U.S. Soccer Federation. It follows exhibition matches against China (Aug. 27 at Bridgeview, Ill.) and Mexico (Sept. 13 at Rochester, N.Y.).

The Americans also plan to play a game on Oct. 8 and then head to South Korea for the Peace Cup, where they face Denmark (Oct. 29), Australia (Oct. 31) and North Korea (Nov. 2).
