Sky Blues reject third Birmingham bid for McSheffrey

Coventry managing director Paul Fletcher has revealed the club has rejected a third bid from Championship rivals Birmingham for striker Gary McSheffrey.

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has returned with a fresh offer after two unsuccessful attempts to lure McSheffrey to St Andrews earlier this month.

Fletcher has underlined the club's determination to keep the 23-year-old, who scored 15 league goals last season, at the Ricoh Arena.

'From the outset, my chairman Geoffrey Robinson and I have been of the opinion that we should not sell Gary McSheffrey and again we have underlined our intention to keep him at the Ricoh Arena,' said Fletcher in a statement.

'We thank Birmingham City for their interest in him but it has never been in our thoughts to let him go.

'On behalf of the chairman, board and senior management team at Coventry City, I am delighted Gary is still a Sky Blues player and we all look forward to the new season with him in the team.'
