Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists it would not be a disaster if they failed to land another left-back.
The Premiership champions have been strongly linked with Arsenal and England full-back Ashley Cole but the Portuguese boss was non-committal regarding their supposed interest.
Wayne Bridge was their only senior left-back to be put through his paces in the sweltering heat of Los Angeles today but it appears his immediate future is at Stamford Bridge despite links with a loan move to Celtic.
Mourinho refused to answer questions on Cole and Bridge but he said: 'We will find a solution regarding the left-back position.
'We are looking at options but it is not a disaster if nothing comes of it. We are well enough covered for that position.'
Mourinho pushed his stars to the limit in the Los Angeles heat this morning.
The Blues, including new signings Andriy Shevchenko and Salomon Kalou, and World Cup stars John Terry, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Bridge braved 100 degrees temperatures as preparation for the new campaign gathered pace.
It was a tough test for the players after flying round the world yesterday but it was a clear indication of Mourinho's plans.
German star Michael Ballack and Hernan Crespo, who has been quoted as wanting a move back to Italy, were absent because of their exertions in the World Cup finals.
