Preston right-back Tyrone Mears is set to complete his move to West Ham today.
Mears, 23, travelled to London on Monday to agree personal terms and Preston have confirmed he is due at Upton Park today to undergo a medical.
The Hammers turned their attention to Mears after attempts to sign England full-back Luke Young from Charlton fell through over the weekend. Charlton had targeted Mears as a potential replacement for Young.
Preston revealed they had turned down two bids from Charlton before agreeing a fee with West Ham manager Alan Pardew.
