Juventus says coach Capello resigns

July 4, 2006

ROME, July 4 (Reuters) - Italian champions Juventus said on Tuesday their coach, Fabio Capello, had resigned.

Juve gave no other details in a brief statement on its website. The new president of Real Madrid, Ramon Calderon, said on Monday he planned to appoint Capello coach of the Spanish team.

Juventus is at the core of a match-fixing scandal in Italy and could be relegated if a sports tribunal finds against the club.
