ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Dutch leaders PSV Eindhoven struck twice in the first six minutes to secure a 2-1 victory at AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.
Striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink headed home at the near post after three minutes, then Jefferson Farfan set up Arouna Kone to double the lead.
AZ midfielder Stijn Schaars pulled one back on 61 minutes.
With eight matches remaining, PSV are seven points ahead of second-placed Feyenoord, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Groningen. Alkmaar are third on 55 points.
Striker Pierre van Hooijdonk salvaged a point for Feyenoord with his first goal since his return in January. The Rotterdam side had trailed to a Mark-Jan Fledderus goal.
Fourth-placed Ajax Amsterdam beat Heracles Almelo 3-1 for their fourth straight win.
Finn Mika Nurmela found his way through the Amsterdam defence to set up Thijs Sluijter for the opening goal but shortly before the interval Klaas-Jan Huntelaar equalised with his 24th of the season.
Ajax youngster Michael Timisela scored his first goal when he netted with eight minutes to go after Angelos Charisteas hit the post and Ryan Babel sealed the win in injury time.
Danijel Pranjic's free kick nine minutes from time gave Heerenveen a 2-1 win over NAC Breda. Utrecht struck twice in the first half hour to beat Roda JC Kerkrade by the same score.
Heerenveen and Utrecht are sixth and seventh respectively with 43 points.
On Friday, bottom side RBC Roosendaal beat NEC Nijmegen 2-0 for their first win of the season.
