PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- Jan Koller hopes to recover from knee surgery in time to play in the Czech Republic's World Cup opener against the United States on June 12.
"Doctors say I should be fit to play if I pay enough attention to rehabilitation," the 6-foot-6 forward was quoted as saying in Monday's editions of Pravo. "It is worth the effort."
Koller, whose nine goals were second in European World Cup qualifying, tore left knee ligaments during Borussia Dortmund's German Bundesliga game against Mainz 05 on Sept. 24. He had surgery Oct. 7, and his expected rehabilitation time is eight months.
The 33-year-old has 40 goals in 66 international appearances.
