BUCHAREST, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Boavista Porto goalkeeper Carlos Alberto Fernandes will sign for Romania champions Steaua Bucharest on Monday, the club's general manager said on Sunday.

Steaua, who will prepare in Cyprus for next month's UEFA Cup match against Dutch team Heerenveen, have lost Belarus international goalkeeper Vasily Khomutovsky to Russian club Tom Tomsk.

'Fernandes has agreed to join Steaua, we are now travelling to Larnaca, he will sign tomorrow a contract with us,' Mihai Stoica said by telephone from Porto airport.

Fernandes, 26, who comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, played 12 matches for Boavista this season.
