Norwich have moved to strengthen their midfield by signing Welsh international Carl Robinson for £50,000 from Sunderland.

The 29-year-old has been on loan at Carrow Road since November and has made seven appearances for the Canaries, impressing City boss Nigel Worthington who has moved to make the switch permanent until 2008.

'Carl has made a good impact since joining us on loan and I'm delighted to strengthen the squad by signing him up for the long term,' he told the club's official website.

Robinson, who is currently sidelined with a rib injury, added: 'I have enjoyed my spell here so far, even though it's been cut slightly short through injury, and I'm delighted to be here now on a full-time basis.'
