A delay in the construction of the new Wembley Stadium resulted from the wrong type of concrete being used in the foundations, developers Multiplex have claimed.
The company said the erection of the signature arch was held up after a mistake was made.
A Multiplex spokesman told The Guardian: 'I can confirm that an amount of the wrong grade concrete was originally poured into the arch bases, but that this was picked up by our checking system and the concrete was removed and replaced with the correct grade.
'This has subsequently been signed by independent assessors.'
Multiplex are currently involved in a multi-million pound lawsuit with one of its former sub-contractors over issues surrounding the construction of the stadium.
