Liverpool track Dons star Martin

January 9, 2006

Teenage MK Dons goalkeeper David Martin will travel to Anfield on Wednesday to discuss a dream move to European champions Liverpool.

The 19-year-old, who has made three LDV Vans Trophy appearances for the League One Dons, has been earmarked as a star of the future by Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Martin, the son of former West Ham and England defender Alvin Martin, spent four days on trial at Liverpool before Christmas, playing in one reserve game, and sufficiently impressed for Benitez to offer him a permanent deal.

A nominal fee is believed to have been agreed between the clubs, and Martin will discuss personal terms with Anfield chiefs and undergo a medical on Wednesday.
