Hearts make position crystal clear

January 5, 2006

Hearts have rebuffed suggestions that they would accept a bid from Crystal Palace for midfielder Paul Hartley.

Reports suggested that the London club may be set to make an offer of around £800,000 for the Scotland international.

However, a Hearts spokesman said: 'We will not entertain any such bids for Paul.

'He is an integral member of our team and we expect him to play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.'
