David O'Leary is hoping to extend Leeds midfielder Eirik Bakke's loan spell with Aston Villa until the end of the season.
The Villa chief is desperate to tie up a deal within the next 24 hours so that Bakke can be eligible for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Hull.
As things stand, Bakke's agreement with Villa will run out later this month and Leeds are reluctant to allow him play in the cup in case another club come in for his services.
O'Leary said: 'There are two issues with Eirik. First of all I want him to stay for the rest of the season. As things are currently, he has a loan up to the end of January.
'At present, he is not eligible for the FA Cup because we currently have no deal to take his loan on until the end of the season.
'We could do with sorting that out, because we badly need him for Saturday. We need to know before 12 noon on Friday.'
