Two uncapped players in Tunisia squad

TUNIS, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre has named two uncapped players in his squad for the defence of the African Nations Cup in Egypt later this month.

Defender Issam Merdassi and striker Amine Eltaif were included in the squad issued by the Tunisian Football Federation on Monday.

Tunisian media had speculated that Lemerre might use inexperienced players for the tournament and save his seasoned internationals for the World Cup finals in Germany later this year.

Tunisia are drawn in Group C for the Nations Cup with Guinea, South Africa and Zambia. The tournament runs from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10.


Goalkeepers: Ali Boumnijel (Club Africain), Khaled Fadhel (Erciyespor), Hamdi Kasraoui (Esperance).

Defenders: Hatem Trabelsi (Ajax Amsterdam), Anis Ayari (Samsunspor), Karim Saidi (Feyenoord), Issam Merdassi (CS Sfaxien), Radhi Jaidi (Bolton Wanderers), Karim Hagui (Strasbourg), Jose Clayton (El Qatari).

Midfielders: Chawki Ben Saada (Bastia), Adel Chedli (Nuremberg), Kais Ghodhbane (Samsunspor), Sofiane Militi (Foscala), Jawher Mnari (Nuremberg), Riadh Bouazizi (Kayseri Exciysspor), Slim Ben Achour (Guimares), Hamed Namouchi (Rangers).

Strikers: Amine Eltaif (Esperance), Zied Jaziri (Troyes), Haikel Guemamdia (Strasbourg), Issam Jomaa (Lens), Silva Dos Santos (Toulouse).
