Sweden's Djurgarde sign Blomqvist

STOCKHOLM, July 11 (Reuters) - Former Manchester United and Sweden midfielder Jesper Blomqvist has signed with Swedish champions Djurgarden for the rest of the season, Swedish media reported on Friday.

Blomqvist, 29, became a free agent at the end of the English season after Charlton Athletic let him go.

Blomqvist moved to Manchester United from Italian Serie A team Parma in 1998 but had most of his stay with United ruined by injuries.

He played in the victorious Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999, his last competitive match for United. He underwent knee surgery later that year and was out of action for over two years until he was sold to Everton in 2001, moving to Charlton a year later.

Blomqvist, who was capped 30 times, said he had agreed to play with Djurgarden until the season finished at the end of October but could extend his stay.
