Wolfsburg focused on Luiz Gustavo
Wolfsburg have reiterated their desire to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, who has been linked with a summer move away from the treble-winners.
Gustavo, 25, faces huge competition for a place in Pep Guardiola's first team, but the holding midfielder has said he wants to stay in Munich and force his way into the coach’s plans.
Die Welt reports that Wolfsburg have voiced a strong interest in the Brazil international, and coach Dieter Hecking said: "If the player is on the market and wants to join us, we will do all we can to convince him that VfL Wolfsburg is a good destination for him."
Hecking, however, added that he was aware other clubs were interested in Gustavo – media reports suggest Inter Milan, AC Milan and Chelsea are also in the frame.
Over the weekend, Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs revealed that his club had made an official approach for the player.
"We want to do things correctly," he said. "There are still some obstacles to overcome, however."
Gustavo has two more years to run on his current deal, but would be available for a reported €18 million.
Meanwhile, Radio Bremen says Werder Bremen are reportedly interested in Bayern left-back Diego Contento, who is rated at €2 million.
