Newly-promoted Primera Division side Almeria have named Francisco Rodriguez as their new head coach.

Francisco, 34, has been in charge of Almeria's reserve side for the last two seasons in Segunda Division B and replaces Javi Gracia, who it was announced on Friday would be leaving the club after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract.

Under Gracia, Almeria recently won promotion through the Segunda Division play-offs to return to the top flight after an absence of two years.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Francisco Javier Rodrmguez Vilchez, 'Francisco', is the new Almeria coach for the 2013-14 season as the club return to the highest level of Spanish football.

"The Almeria-born coach, who recently turned 34, becomes the youngest coach in the Primera Division and will assume the challenge of trying to achieve safety.''
