AEK Athens have been relegated from the top division in Greece for the first time in their history after being docked three points by a Super League disciplinary committee.

The points deduction came after AEK fans invaded the pitch and chased players from it after visitors Panthrakikos went in front through a Mavroudis Bougaidis own goal three minutes from the end.

The fixture was abandoned and Panthrakikos, relegation rivals, were awarded a 3-0 win.

The deduction means AEK are five points adrift of safety with only one game, against Atromitos, to play.

AEK announced that they would appeal, describing their punishment as a "premeditated crime'' imposed by a "corrupt system". They have also been told that they will start next season on minus two points.
