Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has admitted it was hard for the squad to concentrate ahead of their DFB-Pokal semi-final against Wolfsburg.

And despite thrashing their Bundesliga rivals 6-1, fears remain that distraction could potential undermine the club's bid to reach the Champions League final.

Bayern, who recently wrapped up the Bundesliga title, face a glamour tie against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, with the winner then meeting either Borussia Dortmund or Real Madrid at Wembley.

And with the clash against the Spanish giants occupying their thoughts, Shaqiri said it was difficult for the players to prepare for their DFB-Pokal showdown with Wolfsburg.

"We wanted to reach the cup final but it was difficult for us," he said. "All the talk about Barcelona had made it hard to concentrate. But we did it and had the game under control."

But with another Bundesliga title wrapped up and Bayern through to the DFB-Pokal final, the club's attempt for a treble of trophies could leave the players open to further distraction.

Bayern midfielder Javi Martinez said the treble chase was hard to remove from his thoughts.

"It is impossible not to talk about the treble, but we do not want to think about it," Martinez told Marca.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking found it hard to explain his squad's mauling, a performance during which conceded a Mario Gomez hat-trick in space of six minutes.

"For 65 minutes, it was a very good game from us but then they came at us hard," he said. "It should not have happened that we conceded six times with such a performance, - it was two or three goals too much. This cannot be explained. But we have big plans and getting to the semi-final has still been a great success."
