Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has admitted he may leave the club when his current contract expires in 2015.

Kroos, 23, has gone on to rack up 144 Bundesliga appearances since joining Bayern from Hansa Rostock as a youngster - including 43 games played during an 18-month loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen - while he has established himself as one of the side’s most important players this season.

However, the Germany international, who would not be short of potential suitors, says that while he is enjoying life at the club, he would be open to a future elsewhere once his deal expires.

“It is not an eternity until 2015. Right now I feel great here and could consider staying longer,” Kroos told kicker. “But everyone who knows me is aware I am open for new experiences. Right now, there is no reason to consider it as the club’s perspective is very good.”

Since Jupp Heynckes arrival at Bayern in 2011, Kroos has been transformed from a defensive midfielder into an attacking playmaker - a role he says he is thriving in.

“I was convinced, I could do it. I played good in that role last season and was confident I could improve further,” he said. “I want to play that position. I am important for the team in that position. And Thomas [Muller] is playing a great season on the right and can contribute his qualities from there.”

The Rostock-born player was only used as a substitute in Germany’s friendly with France in February, while he missed out on their recent World Cup qualifying double-header.

Despite facing tough opposition for a starting place, with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Mario Gotze also vying for a spot, Kroos has vowed to be a success at international level.

“I had hoped to start [against France], he said. “I try to win a place on the team with all my power. That is my goal. I have succeeded at Bayern.”
