Totti celebrated 20 years since he made his Serie A debut on Thursday, enjoying a successful career that has included Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

The 36-year-old has tasted just as much success in the international arena after claiming the 2006 World Cup with Italy.

But the annual honour of the world's best player, the Ballon D'Or, has long deserted one of Italy's great sons and former Roma midfielder Falcao said it's a blemish on the award that Totti's name has not been added to the list.

"Totti has the technique of a South American and deserved to win a few more trophies with his Roma team," Falcao told Tele Radio Stereo.

"In fact, he also deserved to win the Ballon d'Or. He is an extraordinary player. When he started, nobody thought he would go on to become so great.

"In Italy it's not easy for kids to come up through the youth academy and impose themselves on the first team, but he managed it and became the symbol of Roma.

"Totti manages to think with his feet and would've done great things with my Roma side in 1982-83."
