Neymar is set to be offered a new contract at Santos, despite speculation linking the striker with a move to Europe.

The 21-year-old is one of the most prized talents in world football and has constantly been linked with some of the game’s biggest clubs.

The Brazilian side have always insisted Neymar would remain with them until at least the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, after which it is widely believed the player will then make a move to Europe.

Now, however, Santos seem confident of holding on to their top asset for even longer, with Santos vice-president Odilio Rodrigues moving to rubbish reports of Neymar having signed a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona.

He said: “The club’s managing committee has already decided we intend to extend his (Neymar’s) contract beyond 2014. We are working to make that happen.

“We have already opened talks with Neymar’s father, who denies there is any kind of agreement with Barcelona and we believe him. He said Neymar will be where he is happy.”

Brazil team-mate and Barca full-back Dani Alves recently urged Neymar to join him in Spain, but Rodrigues has dismissed these comments.

“The news from Dani Alves isn’t anything new. Neymar is being sold every day. There is always news that he has been sold,” he said.

"They even say that Santos has received some money. It's very common, but there is no negotiation between Santos and any other club."
