The Swans surrendered seventh spot to Liverpool after the defeat and Laudrup's charges have a lot of questions to answer ahead of next week's Capital One Cup final clash with Bradford.

In preparation for the Cup match, Laudrup made seven changes to his first team, although he insists only Michu and Ashley Williams were rested, accusing his players of missing an opportunity to impress.

"It was a nightmare, we got slaughtered and it was awful because we did not compete," he said. "It could have been 10-0 and we just have to say sorry to the fans who travelled up for this game.

"I don't regret making the changes but I take the blame. I thought the team I picked was capable of getting a result, but I was wrong. Every player needs to look at himself and wonder what they could have done better.

"I don't want to put my finger on anyone but I am disappointed. I learnt a lot for the future. We have to learn, go on and think about the final. Maybe the Wembley final was to blame."
