Gera, 33, suffered ligament damage during the FA Cup game against QPR in January, the second time he has suffered a serious knee injury after he missed the second half of last season with a similar complaint.

"Zoltan has had his operation, it went very well and his rehab starts this week," West Brom head coach Clarke said. "We would expect him to be up and running in time for pre-season training."

Youssuf Mulumbu is also expected to return from the African Nations Cup in time for the Premier League game with Tottenham on Sunday.

Mulumbu has been on international duty with DR Congo but will now fly back after their elimination at the group stage of the tournament.

Clarke said: "We expect him back on Friday and he will be in contention for Sunday. He's just played the three times for his country so there are no problems there."
