Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wants to extend his loan spell at Atletico Madrid for another season.
Courtois, 20, was signed by Chelsea in July 2011 before being loaned out to Atletico that same month. After a successful first season in Spain his loan deal was extended for a further 12 months.
And the Belgium international, who is yet to have made his debut for the Blues, is eager to extend his deal in Madrid for another year to help aid his development.
“I am Chelsea player, but I am happy here,” he told AS. “'I’ll have to see what is best for them but I would be very happy if I stayed here for another year.
“I still haven’t spoken to Chelsea though. If I can’t play for them, then Atletico is the best club I can be at.
“It would be important for me and the club to make the Champions League next season. I am very happy here.”
Courtois has made more than 50 appearances for Atletico and has raised eyebrows with his performances, reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona.
