Tottenham are chasing Hamburg attacker Son Heung-Min, according to Bild.

Son, 20, has impressed with his displays in the Bundesliga this season and has seen his name linked with a host of European clubs, including Arsenal.

Bild believe that the signing of the South Korea international, who would demand a transfer fee of €10 million, will help add extra competition for Aaron Lennon’s starting spot on the right wing.

“Spurs always try to sign the best talents from all over the world,” former Tottenham player Rafael van der Vaart is quoted as saying. “That’s why they are up there nearly every season.”

The Son rumour comes in time for Hamburg’s annual meeting on Sunday. With the club struggling financially, the sale of the player could help to ease the load.

“Economically we are still not doing okay,” Hamburg chief Carl Jarchow said. “We made losses last year. And we will make another deficit if we don’t make any money on the transfer market.”

Only recently did the proposed transfer of Hamburg midfielder Gojko Kacar to Hannover fall through, with the two parties unable to agree on financial terms.

“That’s unfortunate for Hamburg, for Kacar and Hannover,” Hamburg general manager Frank Arnesen said at the time.

Hamburg are looking to sell players to help cover their losses, but so far only third choice goalkeeper Tom Mickel has left the club for struggling Greuther Furth on a free.

“It’s a serious situation,” Jarchow said. “I still have hope. It can’t go on like this.”
