Barcelona defender Adriano will miss the Copa del Rey game on Thursday against Cordoba because of a leg injury.

The Spanish club says Adriano has hurt his right ankle. It is not clear when he will return to action.

The Brazilian has scored five goals in the Spanish league this season.

In other Barcelona news, little-used striker David Villa has been named in the squad, while Xavi, Pedro, Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta have all been rested.

Assistant coach Jordi Roura said of Villa: "He is doing a lot of hard work. We have no doubt that he'll get back to 100 percent."

Cordoba, meanwhile, will be without defender Miguel Angel Tena and fullback David Cerrajeria after their contracts were canceled following unsuccessful deal talks.

Barcelona won 2-0 in the first leg of the round-of-16 match against lower-division club Cordoba. The team also leads the Spanish league by 11 points.
