Marseille striker Loic Remy has spoken in glowing terms of Newcastle amid talk the Magpies are putting together a January bid.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew admitted on Tuesday that the club had made mistakes in the summer transfer window which left them short of options.
A striker would appear to be on Newcastle's radar, more so given the doubts about Demba Ba's long-term future at St James' Park.
Remy is believed to have been a Newcastle target for some time and with the transfer window set to open, the 25-year-old has admitted he is a fan of the Magpies.
"Newcastle are a very good team, they are a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that is always full," Remy is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
"The window opens in January, and there will be speculation from now until the window closes - if I have to leave then all parties must be happy. I have a contract so let's wait and see what happens."
