Wigan have set their sights on matching the best finish in their history after recording back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
The Latics have only ended a season in the top half of the Premier League once, when they came 10th in 2005-06, their maiden top-flight campaign.
But Roberto Martinez's side are 13th after Saturday's 1-0 triumph over Tottenham and, including their rally at the end of last season, have now won 10 of their last 19 league games.
Ben Watson, who got the winner at White Hart Lane, said: "We believe we can finish in the top half of the table."
While manager Martinez added: "The players we have got in the squad have got tremendous potential. They can go all the way. We should be playing the way we played at Tottenham week in, week out."
As usual, Wigan were among the pre-season relegation favourites and Martinez believes they are already defying the odds.
"We are on one of the smallest budgets but it is out eighth season in the Premier League," the Spaniard said. "That's a magnificent achievement."
Wigan host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday before travelling to Anfield, where their revival began in March with a 2-1 win.
