Pioli lifts Bologna for Juve test
Stefano Pioli has told his Bologna players it will "take a significant performance" if they are to take anything from their visit to Juventus Stadium on Wednesday.
While the Turin club have not spoken to the press following reaction to their controversial win over Catania, the Rossoblu coach – himself a former Juventus player – knows the scale of the task facing his team, who have lost their last three games.
He told reporters at his pre-match press conference: "We are taking on the strongest team in Serie A, so must have the same spirit we showed against Inter. That performance was positive despite the result and we must continue in that vein to have consistency. We must learn to carry the starting mentality all the way through to the end of games.
"In Turin every action must be faced with tenacity and aggression, as this is going to take a significant performance. Every ball could be decisive."
Bologna are without a number of players, with the suspended Alessandro Diamanti the latest absentee but will be aware that Juventus have failed to win all four of their midweek encounters so far this season. Despite continuing their unbeaten run, the Bianconeri could only muster draws against Fiorentina, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Nordsjaelland.
