Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadiere could return to the Premier League with Newcastle in January, according to L'Equipe.

Aliadiere has spent the bulk of his career in England with Arsenal and Middlesbrough but returned to his native France last year, signing a contract with Lorient until 2015.

However, L'Equipe believes Aliadiere could make a return to the Premier League when the transfer window reopens, with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew - who managed Aliadiere during a loan spell at West Ham in 2005-06 - apparently eager to add to his options in attack.

Aliadiere's debut season with Lorient was restricted by injury, but coach Christian Gourcuff has shown belief in the 29-year-old and the striker has scored three goals this season.
