Kieran Richardson has said that Fulham have set their sights on qualifying for European football, ahead of Saturday's Premier League meeting with Aston Villa.

Despite the congestion in the top half of the table, Richardson's aim does not appear unrealistic given how Fulham finished level on points with Liverpool last season and just 12 behind Chelsea.

Martin Jol's ninth-placed side have made an encouraging start to the 2012-13 season, and Richardson believes his team-mates have enough quality to finish high up the table.

"You want to improve on last season," Richardson said. "With the players we have in the dressing room we can do well. The standard is very high in training. Defensively we are very, very strong.

"We want to be pushing for a European spot. We can do anything we want."
