Busquets, 24, was sent off by referee Cuneyt Cakir in the latter stages of Barca's 2-0 victory at the Estadio da Luz - receiving his marching orders in the 88th minute for a rash challenge on Benfica captain Maxi Pereira.

And UEFA has now ruled that he will be suspended for the upcoming Champions League double-header against Celtic, who travel to Camp Nou on October 23 before hosting the Catalans at Parkhead on November 7.

Barcelona are top of Group G having won both of their opening fixtures, with Tito Vilanova's side narrowly beating Spartak Moscow 3-2 at home and following it up with victory in Lisbon.

UEFA has confirmed Busquets appeal against the disciplinary panel ruling within three days.
