Jack Wilshere stepped up his comeback with a second outing for Arsenal's Under-21 side. Wilshere, 20, made a return to match action for the first time in 14 months in Arsenal Under-21s' 1-0 defeat to West Brom last week - playing 63 minutes.

He came through that game without any adverse reaction and following a full week of training, was again in the side for the U21s' clash with Reading.

He spent 74 minutes on the field and played a key part as a strong Gunners side won 2-0. Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong were involved in a flowing move that resulted in German teenager Serge Gnabry opening the scoring on 42 minutes.

In front of manager Arsene Wenger, the second Arsenal goal came shortly before the hour, with a Wilshere corner being nodded home by Chuba Akpom.

Wilshere felt his way back into action against West Brom, but he was far more involved against the Royals. His movement was slick and distribution crisp.

Frimpong got through the full match, while on a hugely positive night for Arsenal - full back Bacary Sagna came through an hour on his first appearance since breaking a leg last season.
